This is an old revision of the document!

Legislation needs more definition of “Mongols” and their prohibitions to be effective. I'd do it, but I don't know what the document is meant to imply. — Juinn

By definition of being a nation, you must accept wars with valid casus bellis (invalid casus bellis may wave the fee). Every group which claims nationhood must still observe all of the rules layed out for them (if you do not like it, perhaps appeal to the mods for a rule change and adoptation of a new constitution including some provision in which you can simply ignore other nations). If we are given a valid casus belli, we may legally declare war on you despite this boycott (until the rules are changed).

Juinn raises a good point, is the Khaganate a nation, or more of a supranational organization?

Any Nation or player who wishes to join me, may sign this list and simply recognize them as a threat to the quality of this server and the nations game we created.

No Shako, you make this game unfunny. Seriously your fed up so much with your autism that you don't like it when people play the same card on you. What Sikandar said is all that needs to be said, couldn't agree more with him. I won't deny the fact that the Mongols have broken if not just cheated the rules, but I don't see them doing much illegal stuff, it seems to me you just want to change the system to be a privileged bitch. If you don't like it turn Avence into nothing more but a mere settlement. — caBastard 2013/02/21 04:24

We do have a problem with playing fast and loose with the rules. We (At least, Greenkitten and I) would like to change that and become involved with the rest of the server in a more civil and organized fashion. The Mongols started out to liven up the server as nothing was happening in politics at the time. Raiding was the only way to get any action out of the other nations. Now this seems unnecessary, as there has been a boom of competent and interesting people. Unfortunately, shit like this (the article, petty bitching, random unplanned raids out of spite) deters people from joining in and makes it seem like this sort of shit is only for megafuckers and autists. The current rules kind of assume respect among nations and friendly rivalry, rather than the shit we've been seeing. The best examples were the Kurwa-Battx rivalries early on and the Mongol-Soviet wars later. This sort of thing (making articles like this) really only works against the interests of all of us who want to continue the tradition of nationplay on this server. — Sikandar 2013/02/21 05:06

At the risk of simply appearing butthurt, I must agree with this proposal. I find the continued existence of the Mongols and the administration's leniency towards its ignoring of rules to sometimes blatant cheating a major deterrent to political activity on the server.
That the old Nieuw Walschor crumbled is entirely my fault: I got NW into more trouble than my tiny young nation could handle, and played unfair a number of times myself; I won't blame the Mongols for that. However, getting back into nationhood afterwards was a difficult decision for me, and at any opportunity I advise other people and settlements not to make the same mistake, and to stay out of politics—because of the Mongols. They derive fun mainly from harrassing other players, and any new nation, by becoming such, automatically makes itself a viable target for their mindless warfare.

But beyond their direct interventions, the Mongols' hegemony also imposes constraints on international relations. I have a good deal of respect for Battkhortostan, find Al-Iskandariya admirably cozy, and would love to open an embassy there, but their loyalty to the Khaganate just makes me wary of even getting close to them for fear they might use that as a casus belli at some point. Wary of raids, people often choose to settle far away from spawn rather than close to it, thus dissipating the server's settlements to the detriment of social interaction. You cannot associate with certain nations like Breshik (not that this would be a good idea in the first place) either as it would drag you into the troubles—we've seen random unaffiliated visitors of Nova Avence being killed during Mongol raids.

The rules for warfare might need to be tightened, raids forbidden, and fairness ensued. War, if a friendly acitivity between two consenting nations seeking to liven up their existences and to have a few stories to tell on the wiki, could stimulate activity and provide entertainment. The current rules make it too risky a venture however, and more likely to scare players away instead of motivating them. Though as far as I can tell the only reason that is so is because of the Mongols' exploitation of the existing ruleset; were they gone, the remaining nations might handle them more appropriately. — P_P_A 2013/02/21 10:14
